- One thing that my wife and I notice is that people resent you not doing anything at home, so we try to highlight that our thrift shop also does things at home, MCC needs to do that.
- I think it’s nice that we don’t have CEOs taking private jets to our meetings.
- This isn’t quite on the topic, and yet it is. We’ve been using the book put together by MWC “What we believe together” by Good Publishing – it’s about the practical things we can do. Seven core convictions of MWC.
- Educating the congregations a/b the mission of MCC, sort of a tricky thing to figure that out, that it’s not just supplying material aid, but also doing development in the countries; MCC is a trusted resource / group for the congregations, and it can help us steer clear of the political pitfalls.
- I’ve heard several people say that they would like to have more young people here. One way is to not hide what MCC is all about, encourage them to look at not only money, career, etc….I remember that people in my church questioned me about going to Nica: you’re going to get behind in life….it was one of the best experiences in my life…
- In our missions committee we were brainstorming a/b how to involve people in mission. Having a missions moment helps to have people see just what is going on – on the screen up front.
- Just a comment on getting our young people involved. The info in the resource catalog is something to pass on to your church committees. Lots of stuff for young people, to keep them in touch with the message of Christ.
- What struck me today is that what is our vision we are also hearing happen in stories. MCC could better document short-term assignments. How to link our future vision to connect with what already exists.
- Solidarity groups with MCC?? Similar to what was done during the Central American conflicts, but this could focus on what is happening in our world and nation, across congregational lines. Somewhat of what happens in this kind of Wineskins meeting, but on a regular basis.
